NICHETTO COLLECTION
For the Nichetto collection for De La Espada, we have reimagined the design language of 1950s American furniture. The items of the collection feature solid wood skeletons that are exposed rather than concealed, showcasing fine materials and craftsmanship, while the finished wooden surfaces straddle the boundaries between the natural and the manmade. Wraparound headboards and tautly upholstered shells offer supreme comfort and privacy.2015
Elysia is a lounge chair that perfectly combines woodwork and tailoring. The chair’s solid wood structure is left in sight to showcase its fine materials and craftsmanship.Blanche, a bergère-style armchair, embraces French luxury and echoes the delicacy mid-century furniture and architecture form, balancing handcrafted wood with luxurious fabrics.Dubois bed system creates a room within a room with a generous expanse of upholstery and wraparound headboard.Harold writing desk evokes the era of letter writing. The working area profile on three sides features soft upward curves; and the H-frame legs and wedge tenons grant the table a breezy elevation. The Laurel Coffee and Side Table feature a cylindrical base with an inverted cone, juxtaposing the sculptural shapes of its two elements, with a seemingly precarious manner. The Marlon table is a play of contrasts with slender marble legs supporting a solid hardwood or marble tabletop. Playing with ideas of display and concealment, the Mitch cabinet offers a selection of gracefully efficient storage options with door-pulls inspired by traditional Venetian doorbells. Vivien is a sculptural, solid-wood chair whose form fuses the simple with the ornate, the machine cutting with a delicate hand-carving.

2016
For 2016, Elysia lounge chair has been joined by Nino, an ottoman that shares the same stylistic principles. Kim, a family of nesting tables, share common materials, while each having its own distinct form and finished wooden surfaces. Stanley lounge furniture series is crafted around a purposefully exposed wood frame and taut upholstery to provide a smooth finish to the backrest. Gemstones set into jewellery represent the starting point for Steve – a series of upholstered pouffes with short cast iron legs.2018
Named as a tribute to a significant place in the movie ‘A streetcar named desire’, Belle Reeve sofa system, created in 2018, finds its main feature in the use and processing of natural material. The body entirely made of wood, explicit on the side panels, echoes the craftsmanship inherent; the addition of armrests and table surfaces break symmetries.

SPACES
Paris’ Maison&Objet hosted the formal debut of Nichetto Collection, manufactured by De La Espada. The collection was displayed by replicating different living interiors. The walls’ cold, warm and neutral colours, inspired by the natural world, matched those of the furniture, showcasing the collection's premium materials and superior craft. The launch of the collection in the US was set at Future Perfect, one of the most respected design stores in New York. Although taking visual cues from the range’s original presentation in Paris, the new display in The Future Perfect was adapted to the American market.Credits:
